- Northern Home, Garden & Leisure Magazine
During the the late 1800's it was socially vogue to come to the Adirondacks to enjoy a natural healthy environment and participate in recreational activities. Herbert Carpenter and his family spent many years coming to Camp Arden, and with them came their friends and staff. Even though the accommodations were "rustic" the life style was formal and lively, it was all part of the experience that made this destination so attractive. The tradition continued for many years, drawing celebrations from all walks of life, from corporate heads, musical stars, prize fighters, and even a President of the United States.
In 1991, Camp Arden was purchased and restoration began after remaining unoccupied for more than 45 years. Today the camp has been completely restored, having made it even more accommodating and beautiful than before. We at Camp Arden would like to share this wonderfully historic, hidden retreat, with you for your once in a life time wedding or other event.
